Double Deck Pinochle
How to play Double Deck Pinochle
Double Deck Pinochle online is played by four players in two teams. The game uses a unique 80-card deck, four of each A, 10, K, Q, and J across all suits. Each player is dealt 20 cards per round.
Bidding Phase
The player to the dealer’s left starts the bidding. Each bid must be higher than the last, with a minimum bid of 50. The winner of the bidding round must hold a marriage (King and Queen of the same suit) to name it as trump. Failing to meet your bid target results in point penalties, so bid wisely.
Melding Phase
After Trump is chosen, all players reveal melds, specific combinations of cards worth bonus points:
Each team must earn at least 20 meld points or forfeit their meld bonus entirely.
Trick-Taking Phase
The bidder leads the first trick. Players must follow suit and play higher cards if they can (this rule is known as “crawling”). Trump cards outrank all others. Trick points are earned by capturing Aces, 10s, and Kings (1 point each), plus a 2-point bonus for the final trick.
Winning the Game
Each round’s score combines meld and trick points. The first team to reach exactly 500 points wins. If both teams reach 500 in the same round, the bidding team wins the tie.
